When rechargeable batteries first came out on the market, people were amazed at how easy it was. Rechargeable batteries typically gave a longer life than regular batteries, and when they died it was so simple to pop them back into the charger. The downside with rechargeable batteries was the expense, and most people opted to use them only in cameras and similar electronic equipment. Today however, there is the clever and affordable Battery Wizard on the market; a charger which will charge all kinds of different sized batteries rechargeable as well as ordinary batteries. (more…)

Why is it that many travel agents will advise potential customers against visiting certain countries, and also refuse to help them with finding information about the place you want to go? Most of the time travel agents are great, and will do their utmost to help you. Yet if there is the slightest sign of a problem in a country, everyone is warned off of going and this can ruin the tourist trade in many areas. (more…)

Have you ever house shared with anyone who has no regard at all to common courtesy? Living in a house where you have to share the kitchen should not be a problem, if everyone just kept to themselves and had a little bit of respect for one another. (more…)

If you have any problems with your mobile phone, or your landline or anything else that you use on a regular basis, there is a telephone number that you can phone to speak to the help desk. This is all good and well, and should in theory be all that you need to get you going again. Yet, almost all of the help lines connect you straight to India or Bangladesh, and you end up talking to someone who more often than not cannot understand you. The issue is not that the help desk is half way across the world, but that there is a genuine language barrier that cannot be ignored. (more…)

Car taxes have recently gone up in price; apparently only for gas guzzling vehicles though! Yet people who bought large cars years ago are not only being punished for what kind of car they have, but also by the hike in petrol prices all over the country! Consistency should be one of the most important things that a chef should strive for in a restaurant. You may have found a dish that you absolutely loved last time you were at a restaurant and have raved about it ever since. When you go back to the same pub or restaurant for the second time, and order the same dish again, you expect it to come out looking and tasting the same as it did the first time around. (more…)

In many countries all over the world, people are encouraged to do the recycling with various incentives. In the UK, it seems like it is the opposite way around and you are punished if you do your recycling wrong. How many times have you heard of the bins being left behind when a bit of plastic has ended up in the green bin? Or bins being emptied on the lawn and checked randomly to ensure that you have done it properly? This is no way to encourage people to want to recycle! (more…)

Why does it seem like so many youngsters today appear to have no manners or respect for anything? Is it just me, or do you get a lot of teenagers who swagger around as if they own the world and everything in it? Some older women are frightened of the groups of youths that hang around on the street corners, especially later on at night. Do they not have homes to go to? Many of the kids that are out late at night seem to be in their younger teenage years and should not be skulking around late at night in the first place! (more…)

This is something that really works under my skin - senseless violence. Even worse, the people who get away with it.
So many innocent lives are taken daily because of other people’s problems. Why are these people not found out and dealt with before something bad happens?
Are we so blind that we do not realize that the people around us are even capable? People pay close attention to their teenagers ever since the Columbine incident, but what about older people? How can a man kill his wife and child at point blank range and no one had any clue that he was going to do this?
In some cases these horrible criminals are caught, other times they are not. I often wonder how these people live with themselves; can they really go on with their life? I hope they suffer and think about those they killed every day.
Keep a vigilant eye on those around you. Watch for any mental break, odd behavior, or stress that could cause anyone in your life to commit a crime that is not in their nature. We need to help those who are suffering, even if they are not going to harm other people.

I certainly do hate traffic jams. I simply cannot understand them. Why do they ever exist? Most of the time you spend hours stuck in a traffic jam but at the end you find there was hardly any reason for one anyway.
One can understand traffic congestion caused by accidents or road maintenance, though perhaps not when one is behind thousand or so cars. Given some down time one can understand such a situation, especially after a good tirade against the drivers or the road maintenance authorities responsible, but most traffic jams are caused not by accidents or sudden damages to road.
In fact nobody knows why they are caused. Some say they are due to small traffic incidents slowing down traffic and then accumulating through a chain reaction. Others believe that they are caused due to temporary bottlenecks snowballing, yet others put the blame on bad weather, poor signaling, etc. etc.
Why can’t all the scientists and researchers find out for certain? After all they are costing economy and everyone involved, meaning you and I, lot of money for gods’ sake!
What I can gather from all the causes counted above is that they are due to people reacting stupidly and acting like a herd. This is in line with what I have seen of other drivers’ behavior from inside traffic logjams.
When you drive a car you cannot act like a herded animal doing what other people are doing. Be independent! Think! If everyone does that, these traffic jams will unresolve themselves in no time. That is my opinion anyway.
