Excessive packaging

Are all the plastic wrappings on products really necessary? When you buy anything from the supermarket these days, the product seems to come wrapped in not one but sometimes two or three layers of plastic wrappings. Have you bought something recently that looks fairly generous only to get it home and to find that it is just a tiny object amidst layers of paper and plastic?

Really excessive packaging Obviously products need to be preserved, especially if you are buying food and things, but surely you do not need three layers of plastic and foil to preserve something. With all the concern about the environment these days, it is hard not to wonder what all the manufacturing companies are thinking as they wrap up their goods. A cardboard box surrounding two layers of foil is surely not the most environmentally friendly way to package something up. Many people would be pleased to not have to struggle to unwrap packaging when they get in from the shops, and needless to say, it would also make the manufacturers jobs a lot easier. Not as much time would need to be spent to pack up all of these items, and it would also be beneficial to the environment. We can all do our bit for the environment by avoiding buying products in excessive packaging.
